“Lost in the city, like a whisper in the wind,” Maudy Piot once wrote. Today we stand at Jardin Maudy Piot-Jacomet. It is a space dedicated to her memory. Maudy Piot-Jacomet was a remarkable woman. She was a feminist and advocate for disabled rights. This garden honors her life and work.

The Jardin Maudy Piot-Jacomet was created in 1977. It was significantly redesigned in 2017. The redesign increased the garden’s green space. It also reshaped the paths and updated the furniture.

Before being named after Maudy Piot-Jacomet the garden was called Square des Suisses. This name came from the nearby Rue des Suisses. That street referenced a path to Bagneux. In the 18th century Swiss Guards were stationed there.

Maudy Piot-Jacomet was born in 1940 and passed away in 2017. She founded the association “Femmes pour le dire femmes pour agir” meaning Women for Speaking Out Women for Acting. She was also a member of the High Council for Equality between Women and Men since 2015.

Maudy’s work focused on the rights and equality of disabled women. She herself experienced vision loss from childhood. This personal experience fueled her passion for advocacy.

Maudy Piot believed in the power of women’s voices. Her association offered support and resources to disabled women. They fought against discrimination and promoted inclusivity. The Jardin Maudy Piot-Jacomet now stands as a reminder of her tireless efforts.

The garden itself features diverse plant life. Original sophoras and pines still grow here. A field maple and two rowan trees have been added. The color scheme features pastel and light tones. These illuminate the area creating a peaceful atmosphere.

The Jardin Maudy Piot-Jacomet spans 3,536 square meters. It provides a green oasis in the city. It is accessible to people with reduced mobility.

Walking through this space take a moment to reflect. Think about Maudy Piot-Jacomet’s legacy. Consider her fight for equality. She believed in a world where every woman’s voice is heard. Remember her words lost in the city like a whisper in the wind. Let us carry her message forward.
