It sits at the corner of rue de la Croix Saint-Simon and rue des Orteaux. The name “Orteaux” itself comes from the Latin word “ortus,” meaning garden. This echoes the area’s history as the once-green commune of Charonne. Jardin des Orteaux is a popular spot for local children. Within its small space, you’ll find unusual trees like liquidambars and a Judas tree. Rose bushes called “Anne de Bretagne” add splashes of color. A variety of shrubs fill the garden, including choisyas, photinias, mahonias, dogwoods, and laurustinus. The laurustinus boasts pinkish-white winter flowers and dark berries.
