From humble beginnings as a small langgar it grew. The Jami’ Nurul Falah mosque stands before you. It wasn’t always this grand structure. Its story begins much earlier. Initially a simple langgar it served as a place of prayer and education. This was long before Indonesia’s independence. It even became a base for resistance.

The langgar transformed into a full-fledged mosque in 1952. It was built on 400 square meters of wakaf land. The name Jami’ Nurul Falah arrived later in the 1960s thanks to Ustaz Achmad Nairan. The mosque underwent its first major renovation in 1971. Another significant transformation took place in 1984. That year they laid the foundation for the current modern design.

Two local architects Both Soedargo and Taufik were chosen. They designed the building we see today. Construction lasted two years. The newly renovated Jami’ Nurul Falah was officially opened in 1986. Minister Sekretaris Negara Sudharmono presided over the ceremony. The mosque has since expanded. A new two-story building now accommodates around 300 additional worshippers. It is located to the north of the main building. This expansion however requires continued funding. Anyone wanting to contribute is welcome.

Jami’ Nurul Falah began as a simple langgar. Today it is a significant mosque in Jakarta. It’s a place of worship and a testament to the community’s resilience and faith. It is a symbol of the evolving religious landscape of Indonesia. Take a moment to appreciate the history etched into its walls. A symbol of perseverance and the growth of a community. The Jami’ Nurul Falah is more than just a mosque. It is a living monument.
