“ISTÜN’de geleceğin var”. That is the slogan of Istanbul Sağlık ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi. Today, we explore its Sütlüce Kampüsü.
Istanbul Sağlık ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi is a young and dynamic institution. It was established in May 2018. The university quickly secured its place in higher education. It began operating in the 2020-2021 academic year.
The university’s journey began with the Topkapı Yerleşkesi in Zeytinburnu. It expanded in its second year. The Merter Yerleşkesi was opened. Until the 2023-2024 academic year, education was offered at these two locations.
The ISTÜN continued its growth. In the 2023-2024 academic year, it consolidated its education. All programs were moved to the Sütlüce Kampüsü. This move marked a new chapter for the university.
A significant change in leadership occurred on January 3, 2024. Prof. Dr. Seyhan Alkan, the founding rector, handed over the duty. Prof. Dr. Buğra Özen was appointed as the new rector. This transition signaled a continued commitment to ISTÜN’s mission.
The Sütlüce Kampüsü is composed of two buildings. These buildings are divided into three blocks. Block A stands alone as a single building. Blocks B and C are within the same building. A terrace divides these two blocks. The campus is located by the Haliç.
For students using public transportation, the closest metrobüs stop is Haliçioğlu. From there, students transfer to the Haliçioğlu bus stop. Buses 41ST and 500T provide transport to the Üniversite-Silahtar stop. ISTÜN also provides ring services. These services facilitate access to the metrobüs for students.
Istanbul Sağlık ve Teknoloji Üniversitesi comprises several academic units. These units include the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences. There is also a Faculty of Medicine. In addition, students can study at the Faculty of Dentistry. The Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Health Sciences offer diverse programs.
The university has a college. The College of Health Services offered various programs until 2022-2023. These included Medical Laboratory Techniques. First and Emergency Aid was also taught there. Medical Imaging Techniques was also offered, alongside Anesthesia. Currently, only Oral and Dental Health is active. The future of the closed programs remains undecided.
