Amidst the vibrant energy of Buenos Aires, stands the ISP JVG. The Instituto Superior del Profesorado Dr. Joaquín V. González whispers tales of educational dedication. Established in 1904, ISP JVG has witnessed the ebb and flow of Argentina’s history. It has nurtured generations of educators. Originally founded as the Seminario Pedagógico, the ISP JVG was the brainchild of Joaquín V. González himself, then Minister of Justice and Public Instruction. In its early years, the institution catered exclusively to university graduates seeking teaching qualifications. As the curriculum expanded, so did its accessibility, opening its doors to students completing their secondary education. By the mid-1920s, the ISP JVG offered a comprehensive range of disciplines that mirrored the secondary school curriculum. The journey of the ISP JVG has not been without its challenges. For years, it lacked a dedicated building, operating in various borrowed spaces. Finally, in 2009, after persistent advocacy from students, faculty, and administrators, the ISP JVG moved into its own building at Ayacucho 632. Even this achievement came with concerns, with some fearing the new space would be insufficient for the growing institution. This concern is reflected even today as many programs struggle with scheduling constraints. Despite the challenges, the ISP JVG continues to thrive as a vital hub for teacher training in Buenos Aires. It boasts fifteen undergraduate programs, five postgraduate programs, and a student body exceeding seven thousand. It stands as a unique institution in Argentina, dedicated solely to shaping the future of education. In 2018, the ISP JVG launched “El Joaquín TV,” its own audiovisual production unit. This initiative marked a pioneering step, making it the first teacher training institute to establish a channel managed collaboratively by faculty, students, and alumni. The channel broadcasts content created by and for the community, fostering engagement and dialogue. “El Joaquín TV” has showcased notable projects, including the interview series “Futuros Docentes” (Future Teachers). This series, hosted by Rector Mariana Rossetti, explored contemporary teacher training through discussions with prominent figures in education.
