Established in March 1977 the Islamic Center of Greater Austin stands proudly. It’s a testament to faith community and growth. Initially housed in a modest 2000 square foot building the center quickly outgrew its space. Lack of parking was a major challenge in the early years.
The Islamic Center of Greater Austin wasn’t just a place of worship. It was a hub for a growing community. This vibrant community needed more room. In 1982 they purchased an adjacent building. This building became a much-needed larger prayer hall. The expansion addressed the pressing need for more space. It was a significant step forward.
The Islamic Center of Greater Austin continued to grow. In November 1999 a two-story building was completed. This impressive building provided space for approximately 1000 congregants. A full-time Islamic school was established on the second floor. This expansion solidified the center’s position as a prominent community institution.

A ghusl facility and burial services are also available. The Islamic Center of Greater Austin boasts a 25 acre Muslim cemetery.
