Could this imposing structure, the Isartor, once have witnessed the triumphant return of an emperor? This very gate, the Isartor, is one of the four main gates of Munich’s medieval city wall. It stands as a steadfast guardian, the most easterly of the three remaining gothic town gates. The Isartor, named after the nearby Isar River, has borne witness to centuries of Munich’s history.
