Founded in 1964 the International School of Paris has a rich history. It began as Pershing Hall a small school with just six students. These students represented five different nationalities. Monique Porter founded the school. She wanted an English-speaking school for her daughter. The school quickly grew. It expanded its curriculum from kindergarten to grade 8. Jannick Jones the first headmistress shaped the school’s philosophy. She taught math and French. She also cooked lunch for the students on a gas stove.

The International School of Paris moved several times in its early years. It finally settled at 96bis rue du Ranelagh in 1975. The name changed to the International School of Paris. In 1983 the middle and high school moved to 7 rue Chardin. By 1985 the school expanded to 6 rue Beethoven. This building was a former art school. It was part of the Musee des Arts Decoratifs.

The International School of Paris became an International Baccalaureate school in 1982. This was a significant milestone. It shows the school’s commitment to international education. By 2004 the school had 483 students. It offered all three IB programs. The school needed more space. It acquired two new buildings. One was at 13 rue Beethoven for the secondary school. The other was at 98 rue du Ranelagh for the primary school.
