Established in 2005 the Institut national supérieur de formation et de recherche pour l’éducation inclusive INSEI stands as a beacon of educational progress. It wasn’t always known by this name. The INSEI is the successor to three earlier training centers. One was in Beaumont-sur-Oise another in Suresnes and a third in Paris Cronstadt. These centers opened between 1947 and 1968. The Suresnes site housed the CNEFEI from 1954 until the INSEI’s reorganization in 2006.
The INSEI’s mission is far-reaching. It strives to promote inclusive education and facilitate social and professional integration. The INSEI offers initial and continuing education. These programs aim to meet the needs of students with specific educational needs. The institute also produces resources for professionals in educational social and professional accessibility and support.
The INSEI isn’t just about training. A significant part of its work involves research. The Grhapes research laboratory engages in cutting-edge research. Its focus is on the education and training of students with special needs. The institute actively collaborates with various stakeholders. These include public administrations training and research organizations and associations both domestically and internationally.
The INSEI’s impact extends beyond France’s borders. It participates in European and international collaborations. Its research findings are shared widely. Its influence is felt in supporting inclusive education strategies in various countries. This includes regions like the Balkans Eastern Europe the Middle East Central Asia and parts of Africa.
In 2023 the INSEI underwent a significant transformation. Its status evolved aligning more closely with the university model. This involved strengthening its partnership with CY Cergy Paris University. In 2026 the INSEI will relocate to new premises in Saint-Germain-en-Laye. It will then become part of a national center for inclusive education. The INSEI truly exemplifies a commitment to inclusive education on a national and global scale. It’s a testament to how educational institutions can evolve. Their growth is for the betterment of society through empowering inclusive learning opportunities.
