This unique center was born from the energy of the 2008 Year of Science in Leipzig, specifically a festival focusing on the applications of mathematics. The resounding success of this event inspired the creation of INSPIRATA – Zentrum für mathematisch-naturwissenschaftliche Bildung e.V., a non-profit association dedicated to fostering a love for science. Originally housed in the Schulmuseum’s cinema, INSPIRATA quickly outgrew its initial space and eventually found a more permanent home at the Alte Messe Leipzig. At INSPIRATA, you can make a ball float in mid-air, enclose yourself in a giant soap bubble, or even prove the Earth’s rotation. These experiences aren’t just fun; they’re designed to spark curiosity and a deeper understanding of the world around us. The exhibits are constantly evolving, developed in collaboration with local research institutes, covering diverse topics from mathematics and energy to optical illusions and biotechnology. INSPIRATA also offers workshops for students and courses in technology and programming, further enriching the learning experience. Every Saturday, INSPIRATA opens its doors to the public, inviting visitors of all ages to rediscover the wonders of science.
