This charming place was actually designed to cater to the automobile age. It’s one of the first stylized working class neighborhoods that embraced the car as a necessity. Before that, the more elite and professional folk lived in densely packed houses clustered around the center of the city, relying on the tram and streetcar service. Many people believe a few of the houses were even designed by a skilled architect – and this is quite clear when you see the home situated at 49 N. Indi-Illi Parkway, created by the renowned local architect L Bernard Cosby.
