Indah Water’s story began on April 2, 1994. The Malaysian government granted the company a nationwide concession for sewerage services. This responsibility had previously fallen to local authorities. Indah Water’s reach extends across West Malaysia, excluding Sabah and Sarawak. In June 2000, the government solidified its commitment to efficient sanitation. The Minister of Finance Incorporated acquired all equity in Indah Water, ensuring its crucial role in public health.
Indah Water’s impact goes beyond Malaysia’s borders. As part of its IWK 2020 Transformation Plan (ITP2020), the company shares its expertise with other Asian countries. They operate and maintain over 7,000 sewage treatment plants and approximately 20,000 kilometers of underground sewage pipelines.
