Was it faith that moved a parish, stone by stone? We stand before Immanuel and St Andrew. It is more than just a building. It is a testament to community and change.

Immanuel and St Andrew is a Church of England church. It welcomes people from all walks of life. People of every age are welcome. They come together to worship God. They support one another. They seek to love and serve their local community.

The story of Immanuel and St Andrew began long before this building stood here. The ecclesiastical parish of Streatham Immanuel was created in 1855. It was formed from part of Streatham St Leonard.

Over time, the parish underwent changes. In 1952, parts of Streatham Immanuel went to form a new parish. It was called Streatham Immanuel with St. Anselm. The rest was transferred to Streatham St. Peter.

Around 1988, a further reorganisation occurred. The parish became Streatham Immanuel and St. Andrew. The original Immanuel parish church had a tower from 1854. It was enlarged in 1865. But the church was demolished in 1988. A new church was built on part of the original site. Only the tower remains as a reminder of the past.

Today, Immanuel and St Andrew stands as a beacon of faith. It is located at 452 Streatham High Road. The church offers various services. Sunday mornings at 10 a.m. are for morning service. Children are always welcome. The building is accessible to wheelchairs.

Most services include Holy Communion. These feature singing, Bible readings, a sermon, and prayers. The first Sunday of each month is an All-Age Service. This service is without communion. It incorporates creative and fun ways to learn about God.

Immanuel and St Andrew is more than bricks and mortar. It is a living, breathing community. It is a place where people connect with God. People connect with each other. People find support during difficult times. The church offers a six-session course for those who have been bereaved.

The church supports environmental awareness. It encourages simple changes to reduce energy use. These actions will lower the church’s carbon footprint.

Immanuel and St Andrew is a place of welcome. It is a place of community. It is a place of faith. It is a place of history. It is a testament to the enduring power of the human spirit. It adapts and rebuilds.
