Founded in 1985 by Bishop Miguel Ângelo da Silva Ferreira Igreja Evangélica Cristo Vive started in a humble cinema in Piedade. Just three years later in 1988 the Sede Internacional was built on Rua Maricá. It is located in Campinho.

By 1992, the Catedral was completed. This is one of the largest temples in Latin America. It can host five thousand people. The complex includes an administrative building, a religious education center and Capela da Missão Apostólica da Graça de Deus. This Capela can hold 1000 people. Today Igreja Evangélica Cristo Vive has 15000 registered members.

Igreja Evangélica Cristo Vive’s government differs from traditional churches. Each Igreja is legally autonomous. It has representation and linked Igrejas in Brazil, Portugal, Mozambique and 123 other countries.

Beyond evangelization Igreja Evangélica Cristo Vive offers diverse assistance programs. These include a Bible School for children. There is also evangelization in hospitals and prisons. Spiritual guidance and counseling is available. They have units for psychological disorders and chemical dependency.

Igreja Evangélica Cristo Vive includes an Oficina da Mulher Cristã. They promote music and singing courses. A creche provides childcare. A health center offers physiotherapy. Fonoaudiology, odontology and gynecology services are also available.
