Imagine a space filled with the echoes of fervent prayers and heartfelt worship. That’s the Igreja de Nova Vida em Cascadura. It is more than just a building. It is a testament to faith and community.
The Igreja de Nova Vida em Cascadura has a unique story. It began with Niger Martins. He was a young man converted at 17 in the Igreja de Nova Vida da Taquara. The Igreja de Nova Vida da Taquara was pastored by Pr Hugo Maldonado.
Martins was ordained a pastor on March 25 1998. The Igreja Pentecostal de Nova Vida sent him to found a new church in Cascadura. Pr Hugo Maldonado supported him. Maldonado’s memory is cherished by all who speak of Nova Vida. He was a man chosen by God. He possessed uncommon leadership.
Initially, the Igreja de Nova Vida em Cascadura held services on Rua Florentina. The space could only accommodate 150 people. Yet, 300 to 400 people attended each service. It was a truly remarkable sight. People were eager to hear God’s word.
Founded on May 30 1998 the Igreja de Nova Vida em Cascadura experienced rapid growth. Two years later, the church in Cascadura birthed its first daughter church Inhaúma. Since then several other churches have been established. God had even greater blessings in store.
On November 15 2002 the Igreja de Nova Vida em Cascadura relocated to Rua Sidônio Paes. This new location offered a larger space. It also had a better structure for the ministry’s activities. Today, the church continues to plant new churches across Brazil. It spreads the word of God.
The Igreja de Nova Vida is part of a larger movement. It was founded in the 1960s by Bishop Robert McAlister. He was a Canadian pastor who came to Brazil. He started the Cruzada de Nova Vida. This crusade evolved into a church. It served divine purposes. It also catered to the growing number of people attending meetings at the ABI auditorium in downtown Rio de Janeiro.
Bishop Robert was known for his inspired sermons. He also had the gift of divine healing. He became a prominent evangelical leader. Many current evangelical leaders grew up in Nova Vida. They include founders of some of Brazil’s largest churches. Numerous ministries operate under the Nova Vida name today. They all share the responsibility of honoring the name of the Lord Jesus. They also uphold the name NOVA VIDA.
The Igreja de Nova Vida strives to fulfill its mission. It seeks to honor the name of Jesus. It aims to contribute to Brazilian society. It hopes to serve all of God’s people.
