Underneath the Rio sun stands the Igreja Batista Boa Esperança. Its story began not in grand architecture but under a humble mango tree. In 1952 a small congregation gathered there. Six years later in October 1958 the Igreja Batista Boa Esperança was officially established. Twenty-nine members strong it was born from the Igreja Batista Monte Tabor.
The Igreja Batista Boa Esperança is more than a building. It’s a testament to faith and community. It’s a place where lives are changed. It’s located on Estrada das Agulhas Negras 93 in Campo Grande. From its humble beginnings in a small stucco house the church has grown. Many renovations and expansions have occurred over the years.
In December 2011 a new temple was opened. This new building can hold 800 to 1000 people. It sits proudly beside its predecessor a symbol of growth and perseverance. The church is part of the Convenção Batista Carioca. It holds services on Wednesdays Sundays and bi-weekly Mondays. It’s a hub of activity. It boasts several ministries all aimed at glorifying God. It also aims to build up its neighbors and expand God’s kingdom.
Pastor Sinclair has guided the congregation for many years. Under his leadership the church has remained true to its faith. Today approximately 250 members call the Igreja Batista Boa Esperança their spiritual home. They celebrate the golden jubilee granted to them in 2008. They remain committed to spreading the gospel. They strive to fulfill their purpose of serving God and others. The Igreja Batista Boa Esperança continues to be a beacon of hope in the Campo Grande neighborhood. It’s a place where faith thrives.
