Ever wondered about the tale behind Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia? This beautiful temple stands as a testament to faith. It is a place of community in Berazategui in the Province of Buenos Aires.

Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia offers more than just architectural beauty. It fosters a warm atmosphere for its parishioners. Celebrations here resonate with fervor. Music fills every religious gathering. The church serves as a haven for prayer. It also provides a space for reflection. Inside Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia, a serene atmosphere encourages spiritual contemplation. Visitors actively participate in parish life.

The story of Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia began with a decree. The Archbishop of La Plata issued it on December 8, 1957. This apostolic decree marked the church’s creation. Initially, its jurisdiction covered a vast area. It stretched from the railways to the Varela crossing. It extended from Av 1 to Av 21. This area was rapidly urbanizing. It attracted migrants seeking work in local factories.

In Holy Week of 1958, the Redemptorist fathers arrived. Their mission was to make the Christian community visible. Fathers Inocencio Jacobelis and Raúl Campos used a novel approach. They employed a “missionary tent” for two weeks. After their mission, they formed a pro-temple commission. Lay members chosen at random comprised it. Thus, the Christian community began. Their shared goal was constructing the parish church.

Soon after, Father Roberto La Rocca arrived. He was the first parish priest sent by the Archbishop. He greatly boosted the church’s construction. The Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia was inaugurated in 1965. He also organized community life. It began expanding towards its first daughter chapel: María Auxiliadora.

Over time, the parish community flourished. It established numerous filial communities. These communities grew into what are now Parroquias Virgen de Caacupé. Others are Virgen María Madre del Pueblo, Nuestra Señora del Puente and San Francisco de Asís. Each had its own chapels. In 1996, the last filial parish separated from Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia.

After that, the spirit of God nurtured the community internally. It granted a special grace of renewal. This renewal blossomed into various ministries. It also led to sustained growth in the number of faithful members.

Today, Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia continues to send missionary disciples. They serve in other communities. It has a strong presence in volunteer work. Specifically, it focuses on pediatrics at the local hospital. The church organizes large charismatic events. It announces its activities through media. It frequently conducts house-to-house missions within its jurisdiction. Small communities have sprung up throughout its area.

Before the current pastor, Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia had seven parish priests. Many parochial vicars assisted in their apostolic duties. Roberto Nicolás La Rocca served from 1958 to 1969. Manuel Martín followed from 1965 to 1972. Miguel Hrymacz led from 1972 to 1978. Tarcisio Avesani was the pastor from 1979 to 1985. Orlando Yorio served from 1985 to 1987. Agustín Arévalo followed from 1987 to 1990. Miguel Angel Di Cosmo was the pastor from 1990 to 2003. Eduardo Silio has been serving since 2003.

So take a moment to appreciate Iglesia San José y Santa Cecilia. Note its spiritual significance. Remember its role as a community hub in Berazategui. It stands as a beacon of faith. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of its parishioners.
