Can you feel the sense of community as we gather here at Iglesia para Todos? This church is not just a building. It is a vibrant hub of faith and service in Adrogué.
Iglesia para Todos has a rich history. It started as Primera Iglesia Bautista de Adrogué in 1922. The church began in a small house on Canale Street. From there, it moved to larger spaces. In the 1930s, it found a home in a beautiful temple on Diagonal Brown. This temple was known as Templo Evangélico Bautista.
Robert Elder, a missionary from New Zealand, founded the original church. His hard work laid the foundation for future growth. Pastors like Tudor Morris and Eduardo Lorenzo led the congregation. Each contributed to its development.
In 1974, Pastor Eduardo Lorenzo arrived. He brought spiritual and structural renewal. A key change was the name. The church became Cristo Para Todos. This name reflects its mission to share the Gospel with everyone in the city.
Under Pastor Lorenzo, the church grew. It acquired a cinema in the city center. After a fire, they moved to a larger auditorium on Bouchard Street. This new location could accommodate twice as many people.
Iglesia para Todos has significantly impacted Adrogué. It provides social services to the community. Bernardo Affranchino has been a pastor since 2011. He highlighted the church’s social programs. These include “Permitido abrazar” and “Jesús es mi abrigo”. They also run “El Semillero”. The church supports people with addictions. It assists pregnant mothers. Their program “Lo que usted no usa alguien lo necesita” is very helpful. They also have training and education programs.
The church has a strong commitment to evangelization. They actively share their faith on the streets. This approach has drawn many people to Christ. Pastor Lorenzo famously said. “I don’t want to fill this church with people. I want to fill the city with Christians.”
In the 21st century, Iglesia para Todos has embraced new challenges. They work with municipal authorities. The church provides services for vaccinations and blood donations. They host training sessions. They even served as an internship center during the pandemic.
During the pandemic, Iglesia para Todos strengthened its social work. Programs like “Permitido abrazar” offered vital support. “El Semillero” and “Jesús es mi abrigo” became symbols of hope. The church provided relief to families in need. Their efforts helped many cope with difficult times.
In 2022, Cristo Para Todos celebrated its 100th anniversary. The congregation celebrated through worship. They shared their faith in the streets. Iglesia para Todos continues to serve God. It also serves the community through evangelization. The church is located at Hipólito Bouchard 1020 in Adrogué. Services are held on Thursdays at 7 PM and Sundays at 10 AM and 7 PM.
