Here stands Iglesia Evangélica Monte Sinaí a beacon of faith. It began humbly but its story reflects a growing community. In 1995 Pastor Matías Bermúdez and his wife María founded Monte Sinaí Church. This took place with a group of 12 people. The location was an old garage on the Bermúdez ranch.
Within seven years the church experienced significant growth. The original temple needed expanding. Pastor Matías Bermúdez donated two acres of his property. This donation was for Assemblies of God. His vision was to build a large temple. It would be for the glory of God. Fundraising soon started for the new temple.
January 30 2010 marked a milestone. The new temple of Monte Sinaí Church was inaugurated. From that moment on the church grew considerably. On December 8 2013 Pastor Matías Bermúdez passed the torch. Due to his age and health he anointed Marcos and Queta Flores. They became the new pastors of Monte Sinaí Church.
On January 13 2014 Pastor Matías passed away. He was 91 years old. He ended his journey as founder and pastor. Today Pastors Marcos and Queta Flores lead with a fresh vision. They aim to fulfill God’s purpose. This is for their community and the kingdom of heaven.
Iglesia Monte Sinaí welcomes all. It is a place to encounter Jesus. Believers can participate in a life-giving community. The church creates an authentic space for encounters with Christ. People discover their gifts. They use them for God.
The church’s doctrine centers on the Bible. They believe in the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is an inspiration from God. It provides commandments counsel prayer and faith. Reading the Bible increases faith prayers and wisdom.
They believe in the Father Son and Holy Spirit. God is all-powerful. He is divine and holy. These three are one. Baptisms occur under water with servants of God. Every soul baptized is a new soul with Jesus. Baptism is in the name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit.
The ministry is both Evangelical and Pentecostal. They believe the Holy Spirit manifests in tongues. This happens to those God touches. Salvation talents miracles healing and speaking in tongues are all embraced. The gospel is good news. It is meant to evangelize those who do not know Christ. The Holy Spirit manifests in those who follow God’s will.
José Eli Chávez is the global pastor. He has helped the church grow. It has expanded from Atlanta to multiple locations. These locations include the USA Mexico Guatemala and Nicaragua. Monte Sinaí focuses on transforming families.
Monte Sinaí works with encounters and houses of peace. Encounters are spiritual retreats. Houses of Peace provide word in homes. The main campus in Atlanta has around 2500 weekend visits. There are over 4000 in houses of peace globally. The mission is to transform families for a better world. The vision is to win consolidate disciple and send.
