Matias Espinel grew up attending Iglesia Evangelica Siloé. This evangelical church in Montevideo holds a special place in his heart. He learned about faith and community within its walls. Their work includes radio evangelism and open-air meetings. They also engage in prison and child evangelism. The Iglesia Evangelica Siloé is a product of this missionary work. Many of the graduates from the EMU Bible Institute founded in 1947 serve in Uruguayan churches. Others work in other Spanish-speaking countries. Matias Espinel himself attended Bob Jones University. He later earned an MA in Pastoral Studies and a Master of Divinity. He and his wife Kristine now play a crucial role in EMU’s work. Their ministry includes the establishment of F.E.B.U. a four-year Bible College. This college opened its doors in 2014. It reflects the ongoing growth and development of evangelical Christianity in Uruguay. The Iglesia Evangelica Siloé stands as a symbol of this enduring faith.
