It began in 1972 with the arrival of the Swain family. They were tasked with establishing the church. Their first convert was a painter. He hired to paint their missionary house. This painter opened his home. He invited his neighbors to join.
The first official church formed in Prosperita. Approximately fifty people attended. The church’s growth led to a need for national leaders. John and Sheila Hall were instrumental. They developed a pastoral formation track. This eventually led to the Evangelical Institute.
The Church of the Nazarene in Ecuador expanded rapidly. The ‘Each one win one’ program was key. It helped spread the church nationwide. Five new districts were added. This brought the total to six. By 2018 the church had 16581 members and 211 organized churches.
