The scent of jasmine hangs heavy in the air. It’s a warm Buenos Aires evening. We stand before the Iglesia de City Bell. This unassuming church holds a rich history. For over 47 years it has served the community. It offers solace and spiritual guidance.
The Iglesia de City Bell began humbly. A few families like the Munains gathered in homes. They shared prayers. They studied the Bible. These small acts laid the foundation for this vibrant church.
In 1977 a missionary started an evangelistic campaign. It didn’t last. But God had other plans. A small group remained. Reverend Alberto Scataglini sent Juan Vicente Gonzalez and his wife. They were recent seminary graduates. They were also newlyweds. They became the church’s cornerstone.
For three years they met in a borrowed hall. The congregation was small but dedicated. Then they moved several times. They found temporary spaces in homes of neighbors. Finally they found a spot on Calle 19. The Munain family offered their space.
In 1982 they constructed their first building on Calle El Ceibo. The Setecase family and Emilia Tiberon helped. They were early supporters. Evangelist Carlos Annacondia’s campaigns brought many new members.
In 1985 the Iglesia de City Bell became independent. It continued to grow. They needed a larger space. They purchased the current building on Cantilo. It opened in 1986. It stands as a testament to faith and community.
Today the Iglesia de City Bell continues to thrive. It offers many services. There are Bible studies. There are prayer meetings. It ministers to the community in various ways. The church reflects the enduring faith of its people. It is a beacon of hope in City Bell. It stands as a legacy of perseverance and love.
