Standing right here in front of the Iglesia Bautista Renovada, it’s hard to imagine that this building wasn’t always here. The church was originally called the First Baptist Church of Uruguay. It was founded in 1911 by a group of Christian families who came from Rosario, Argentina. It was a humble beginning. The first services were held in a rented house on Estanzuela Street. There were only six founding members. The church moved several times before it finally found its home on Daniel Fernández Crespo Avenue, which is where we are now. The current building was inaugurated in 1942. It’s a testament to the enduring faith of the people who came together to build it. And today, the church is still a vital center for the community. It continues to offer services and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone who walks through its doors.
