This unassuming building, nestled within a sprawling 120-hectare landscape, stands as a testament to the enduring power of education. You see, the IFSI de Perray-Vaucluse isn’t just any university building. It’s directly tied to the historical Groupe Public de Santé Perray-Vaucluse (G.P.S.P.V.), a public mental health institution established in 1869. Back then, it was known as an “asile d’aliénés,” and its construction was a significant undertaking. Designed by architect Bouteleu, it originally housed 1,000 patients. The link between healthcare and education here runs deep. The IFSI specifically focuses on training nursing students. It began in 1920 and gained official recognition as a training center in 1955. Since 1992, it has been formally known as the IFSI de Perray-Vaucluse, awarding state nursing diplomas. Today, it welcomes 100 students per year, a significant increase from its humble beginnings.
