“Quality education with decent facilities” That is the motto here at IEMS Plantel José Revueltas Sánchez. This campus serves over 600 students and has the capacity for 1200. Let’s discover the story behind this institution.
IEMS Plantel José Revueltas Sánchez is part of the Instituto de Educación Media Superior of Mexico City. The institute was founded in 2000 by the Mexico City government. It aimed to increase admission rates into public high schools.
The Director General of IEMS, Mtra Dinorah Pizano Osorio visited José Revueltas Sánchez. This visit was to check on the progress of the building’s second phase. The Director General of Public Works of the Secretariat of Works and Services accompanied her. He explained the project and showed the spaces that will make up the campus when complete.
The second phase includes buildings B and C. Each building has three levels and a ground floor. There are two stair modules. Complementary works required an investment of over 67 million pesos. The main esplanade and a parking lot for 30 cars were also built.
Pizano Osorio stressed that quality education is the IEMS priority. She said that it is important to offer decent facilities to young people. The new buildings meet Civil Protection and accessibility guidelines. This benefits all students at IEMS Plantel José Revueltas Sánchez.
The building has an elevator. Students can move through the three buildings easily. These buildings are connected by corridors. The work generated 550 direct and indirect jobs. It includes elements of universal accessibility.
Once complete, IEMS Plantel José Revueltas Sánchez will have full infrastructure. The Secretariat of Works and Services and the IEMS are committed. They offer quality educational infrastructure to students in Mexico City.
Interestingly, the IEMS Plantel José Revueltas Sánchez operates in a unique setting. It is located in the cloister of the Teatro del Pueblo. This location was inaugurated as Bachillerato Universitario in 2015. The first enrollment had 57 students. They were originally registered at the “José Revueltas Sánchez” campus of IEMS. These students lived closer to the Centro Histórico.
After the semester, those students returned to their original campus. A new generation entered. These students did not participate in the normal IEMS lottery. They simply enrolled due to the campus’s promotion in the media.
Due to its location, the campus lacks a library and courts. However, it has a mobile laboratory for science subjects. This allows IEMS Plantel José Revueltas Sánchez to bring education to the students.
