IC Catholic Prep opened its doors in 1936. It was the only co-educational secondary school in DuPage County back then. The Sisters of St. Agnes laid the foundation. They instilled a college prep focus from the very beginning. Today, IC Catholic Prep stands as the oldest Catholic, coeducational high school in DuPage County. It’s also the only parish-based high school in the area.
In 2013, IC High School became IC Catholic Prep. This change reflected the school’s deep commitment to Catholic values. The name embodies its mission. The school educates young minds in faith and reason.
IC Catholic Prep draws students from over 38 suburban communities. Class sizes average 19 students. This allows for personalized attention.
IC Catholic Prep offers over 25 Advanced Placement and Honors classes. The school also prides itself on its Fine Arts program. Students can explore music, art, and drama. Beyond academics, there are many extracurriculars. National Honor Society, Art club, and Theater are just a few. Students can also join Book club, Engineering Club, Math Team, Student Council, and Yearbook.
Athletics are a big part of the IC Catholic Prep experience. The football program is legendary. They’ve clinched six IHSA State Championships between 2002 and 2022. In 2008, the team made history. They were the first four-loss team to win a state championship.
The IC Catholic Prep dance team has also tasted victory. They won state in 2012. In 2013, they took second place. The volleyball team won the IHSA class 2A State Championship in 2013. In 2023, the girls soccer team achieved fourth place in IHSA Class 1A.
Several notable alumni have walked these halls. Edwin Feulner is one. He co-founded The Heritage Foundation. Bob McMillen is another. He’s a former arena football player and head coach. Skip Pitlock played professional baseball for the Chicago White Sox and San Francisco Giants.
IC Catholic Prep’s tuition is 13,800 dollars. The school’s slogan is “The School for Independent Thinkers”. The school’s colors are Navy Blue and White. The sports teams are known as the Knights.
