For years the Çubuklu Silolar served as fuel depots. After being abandoned the IBB Miras undertook extensive restoration work. The Çubuklu Silolar gained a new face. They now span 20,000 square meters. The silos have transformed into the city’s new gem.

Today the Çubuklu Silolar host a Digital Arts Museum. They feature a Nature and Science Museum. You can also find a library and workshops here. A stage and event space are available. There is also a restaurant, cafe, and children’s art center. The Çubuklu Silolar offer diverse experiences.

In the 1930s foreign oil companies required petroleum storage in Istanbul. An agreement between Istanbul and Soviet petroleum firms was signed. The foundation for the Çubuklu Silolar was laid. It included tanks storing gasoline, aviation fuel, and oils.

The industrial depots contributed to road construction between Üsküdar and Beykoz. In 1940 the Çubuklu Silolar became part of the Petrol Ofisi company. Following privatization the silos became obsolete. They stood as silent witnesses on the Bosphorus for years.

Now the Çubuklu Silolar host museums and cultural events. They welcome Istanbul residents. The Digital Arts Museum features digital art from around the world. The Nature and Science Museum offers interactive exhibits. The Children’s Art and Design Workshop nurtures creativity. The library provides a unique reading experience.
