Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church

In 1974, a seed of faith was planted in the heart of Chicago’s Hyde Park. This seed blossomed into the Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church. It has been a spiritual haven for the Chinese community ever since. Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church is more than just a building. It is a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of faith, resilience, and cultural heritage. The church’s mission is clear: to reach the Chinese students, scholars, and families in the Hyde Park vicinity. Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church’s vision is equally compelling. They strive for everyone to know, experience, and express Jesus Christ. Every Sunday, the church comes alive with the sounds of worship. The main service, held at 10:00 am, is conducted in Mandarin Chinese with English translation. This ensures that everyone can participate and feel welcome. Following the service, adult Sunday school takes place from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Concurrent with the main service, children and youth have their own Sunday school from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church has a rich history, marked by the dedicated service of several pastors. From Paul Han (1960-1983) to Deano Su (2017-2018), these spiritual leaders have guided the congregation. The current congregation numbers around 55 attendees, with a total membership of 68. Hyde Park Christian Reformed Church is partially barrier-free and offers barrier-free sound. They are also a fragrance-free facility. While the church may not have all the amenities of larger institutions, its heart beats with a powerful spirit of community.
