In 1953, the Hupfeldschule began as the Bürgerschule Hupfeldstraße. Let’s step back in time and explore the fascinating evolution of this Kassel institution. The Hupfeldschule transitioned from a Volksschule to a combined Grund-, Haupt-, and Realschule during the 1968/69 academic year. Then, in 1991/92, it transformed again into the two-to-three-stream primary school we see today. Approximately 200 students now fill its classrooms. The Hupfeldschule shares its expansive grounds with the Astrid-Lindgren-Schule. This shared space encompasses the Hupfeldschule’s Hort, a sports hall complete with a swimming pool, and extensive play areas. The school buildings themselves are pavilion-style structures, interspersed with green courtyards. These courtyards double as outdoor classrooms and gardens, with dedicated plots for each class. In 2015/16, the Hupfeldschule embarked on a new chapter, becoming a full-day primary school. This eight-year journey, driven by significant parental involvement, culminated in the implementation of the “Pakt für den Ganztag” program. The school’s motto, “zusammen wachsen” (growing together), is woven into the fabric of its full-day care program, offered in collaboration with its own Hort and the Hort Himmelsstürmer (VIVA). The Hupfeldschule, along with Kita Wehlheiden, aims to create a nurturing environment where children can thrive.
