The Hungarian Railway Museum opened its doors in 2000. It wasn’t built overnight. The Hungarian Railway Museum Foundation laid the groundwork in 1999. Funding came from the Ministry of Transport and Waterways. The Hungarian State Railways Máv and Máv Nosztalgia also contributed. They envisioned more than just a museum. They dreamed of an interactive experience.
Step inside the impressive 34 bay roundhouse. It’s a stunning example of industrial architecture built in 1911. You’ll see locomotives from different eras.
