It’s part of the Lewisville Independent School District or LISD. The school serves students in grades six through eight. In the 2021-2022 school year Huffines had 731 students. That’s a lot of kids. Over sixty-three percent were considered at risk of dropping out. Almost thirty percent were in bilingual or English language learning programs. The school received a C rating that year. The average teacher salary was $59606. That’s $719 more than the state average. Teachers at Huffines had an average of 10.5 years of experience. That’s less than the state average of 11.1 years. Huffines has a diverse student body. Almost fifty percent were Hispanic. Seventeen percent were African American. Twenty-one percent were white. The school’s student population reflects the changing demographics of Texas. The high percentage of at-risk students and those needing language support shows a need for more resources. The school’s C rating isn’t ideal but it is working to improve. Despite the challenges Huffines Middle School serves its students. The school is more than just numbers and statistics.
