The Hôtel de Tresmes was built between 1605 and 1612. Its first notable resident was Guillaume Parfaict, the Superintendent of the King’s Buildings. Imagine the opulent gatherings he must have hosted! But the story doesn’t end there. From 1616 to 1619, the Hôtel de Tresmes housed a rather scandalous resident: Charles d’Angoulême. He was the illegitimate son of King Charles IX and Marie Touchet. The walls surely witnessed royal secrets and hushed scandals! In the mid-17th century, the renowned architect François Mansart redesigned parts of the Hôtel de Tresmes. He added new wings and depth to the rear facade, leaving his artistic mark on this historical gem. Today, the Hôtel de Tresmes stands as a testament to the grandeur and intrigue of bygone eras.
