Five iron figures stand before you. This is Homem Muralha. They are the work of Portuguese artist Pedro Pires. Created in 2008 these sculptures are quite unique. They are based on the artist’s own body. A model was made then the iron sculptures were built around it.

Pedro Pires is a talented artist. He was born in Luanda Angola. He studied sculpture at the University of Lisbon. He also studied in Athens and London. His work is thought-provoking and powerful. Homem Muralha invites viewers to consider the complexities of identity. It shows how individuals are shaped by their surroundings.
