Founded in 1994 the Holy Word Church of Auckland has a rich history. Pastor Clement Man and a dedicated group established it. Their first service was held in Pastor Man’s home. Soon they outgrew this space. The congregation borrowed a music room at Wakaaranga Primary School. Fellowship meetings continued at Pastor Man’s home. The first official service was in the school hall. The church’s rapid growth was evident. A first baptism occurred at Howick Baptist Church in 1994. Ten believers were baptized that day. The growing congregation needed a permanent building. A Church Building Fund was established in 1994. This was the start of their journey towards owning their own building. The church rented space at Pakuranga Intermediate. The Holy Word Chinese School was opened here. Many parents enrolled their children. The church actively engaged in evangelism. They sang hymns in the streets of Auckland. They distributed Gospel flyers. In 1996 they purchased a church office at 10 Gwenand Place Highland Park. They later sold this property. They bought a property at 10 Dana Place using the funds. This was also eventually sold. Finally the church purchased its current location at 2 Basalt Place East Tamaki. This space accommodated the entire congregation. The first service at this location was held on July 16 2006. The church ended its rental agreement with Wakaaranga Primary School. The Holy Word Church of Auckland continued to grow. A Mandarin ministry was launched in 2002. An English service started in 2007. The church leadership structure changed in 2003. A departmental ministry system was implemented. The Holy Word Church of Auckland emphasizes evangelism and missions. They hold special events annual mission months and prayer meetings. They are involved in various outreach programs. They support missionaries. They also foster mutual ministry through retreats and fellowship gatherings.
