Hidden within Austin, Texas, lies the Holy Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church. It stands as a testament to faith and resilience. In 1975, Father Joseph Van Anh Nguyen arrived at Sacred Heart Parish in Austin. His mission was to care for refugees from central and southern Vietnam. He tended to their spiritual needs during a turbulent time. Later, in 1987, Father Nguyen moved to St. Joseph Church in Manor. There, he served a growing Vietnamese Catholic community of 120 families. The Holy Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church emerged from this burgeoning community. As the congregation expanded, the need for their own space became clear. In 1990, they achieved this goal. They moved into a dedicated building across the street from St. Joseph Church. The church at 1107 E Yager Lane continues to serve its community. It provides a spiritual home and a place of connection for Vietnamese Catholics in Austin. It offers Mass in both Vietnamese and English, reflecting the diverse needs of its parishioners. The Holy Vietnamese Martyrs Catholic Church stands as a symbol of hope.
