A hundred meters above us, Höffdings Tårn pierces the Copenhagen sky. This modern tower offers a detailed interpretation of the area’s beautiful historic buildings. Today, we will explore the story behind this impressive structure.
Höffdings Tårn was designed by Henning Larsen Architects. The architects drew inspiration from Kedelhallen. The tower faces Kæbkes Plads and Ny Carlsberg Vej. Ny Carlsberg Vej is being restored with cobblestones and green trees.
From Ny Carlsberg Vej, you can walk under Höffdings Tårn to Kedelpladsen. This area features shops and cozy restaurants with outdoor seating. Several playgrounds are nearby. You can also visit Østen for Humlen or Kildepladsen. Green spaces like Kammas Have and J.C. Jacobsens Have are within easy reach.
The 138 apartments in Höffdings Tårn are located from the 6th to the 28th floor. Each apartment provides a bright living space with fantastic views. There are six apartments on each floor and all have balconies. Many apartments include bay windows. The two penthouse apartments on the 28th floor have private roof terraces.
WERK Architects designed the courtyards and Kedelpladsen. Kedelpladsen serves as an urban meeting point. It features plants, water features, and benches. The courtyards combine urban and industrial elements with lush greenery.
Carlsberg Byen blends historical heritage with modern architecture. Höffdings Tårn adds to this development. The tower integrates with its surroundings.
The master plan for Carlsberg Byen includes nine towers. These towers are connected by narrow streets and walkways, interspersed with plazas and parks. Entasis, a Danish architecture firm, created the master plan. They won an architecture competition in 2008.
Apartment prices in the towers range from 3 million to 20 million DKK. The towers share common characteristics. They feature earth tones, are square, slender, and tall.
Other notable architecture firms have also designed towers in Carlsberg Byen. These include MVRDV, C.F. Møller Architects, and Vilhelm Lauritzen. Wingårdhs, Schmidt Hammer Lassen, and Dorte Mandrup are also involved.
Pasteurs Tårn stands next to Kedelhallen. It shares the same rust color as Kedelhallen’s chimneys. Dahlerups Tårn is located near old brick buildings like Elefantporten. Therefore, it is clad in brown and red brick.
Bohrs Tårn is 100 meters tall and was completed in 2017. Dahlerups Tårn is 80 meters tall and was finished in 2023. Grønlunds Tårn and Tuxens Tårn are twin towers. They share a similar design. Vogelius Tårn is 80 meters tall and was completed in 2022.
As you can see, Höffdings Tårn is more than just a building. It represents a blend of history, modern design, and urban living. It stands as a testament to Copenhagen’s architectural innovation. It completes the skyline of this vibrant city district.
