The Savannah Indians, Athletics, Redlegs, Reds, Pirates, White Sox, Senators, Braves, Cardinals, Sand Gnats, and finally, the Savannah Bananas, all called Historic Grayson Stadium home. The stadium also played a pivotal role in local history. It hosted the first integrated South Atlantic League game in 1953, marking a significant moment in the fight for civil rights. High school rivalries played out on its field. The annual Thanksgiving Day game between Savannah High School and Benedictine Military School was a tradition from 1927 to 1959.
