The Hiroshima Institute of Technology stands as a testament to Hiroshima’s resilience. It embodies its dedication to progress. It began as the Hiroshima Industrial Junior College in 1961. Two years later, in 1963, it evolved into a four-year university. From that day forward, it took its current name: Hiroshima Institute of Technology.

Noboru Tsuru founded the university. He envisioned an institution that would equip students with practical skills. He also wanted them to have a strong sense of ethics. Over the years, the Hiroshima Institute of Technology has grown. It now has four faculties. These include Engineering, Applied Information Science, Environmental Studies, and Life Sciences. The university also has 12 departments.

But the Hiroshima Institute of Technology is more than just classrooms and labs. It has sent about 50,000 alumni into the world. Many of them are now leaders in their fields. The university fosters engineers. It also enriches their humanity. It helps them contribute to society.

The university has three campuses. The main campus is in downtown Hiroshima. Yachiyo offers a tranquil contrast far from the city’s bustle. Numata hosts seminars and university clubs. The library holds about 250,000 books.

Researchers at the Hiroshima Institute of Technology are at the forefront of innovation. They collaborated with Mitsubishi. Together, they developed plastic antennae. These antennae are lighter and cheaper than metal models. They are also more accurate.

The Hiroshima Institute of Technology also has strong international connections. It offers summer courses in Japanese studies. Students come from the Universities of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Trinity Western, and Shenyang Aerospace University.
