Resting peacefully on this small hill is Hilltop Trine. She is one of the six Forgotten Giants. Have you found all of her siblings yet?

Hilltop Trine lies sprawling in Hvidovre. She offers a unique view of Avedøresletten. But do you know the story behind this wooden giant?

In 2016, the artist Thomas Dambo created six giants from recycled wood. He hid them in the western municipalities of Copenhagen. These municipalities are Rødovre, Hvidovre, Vallensbæk, Ishøj, Albertslund and Høje Taastrup. The Forgotten Giants project aimed to bring art outside the museum walls. It also aimed to showcase the overlooked nature of Copenhagen Vestegn. The giants invite you to explore hidden gems in nature.

Hilltop Trine is special. You can climb into the palms of her hands. From there you can enjoy a beautiful viewpoint.

Hilltop Trine, like her siblings, is made from local scrap wood. She is also made from recycled materials. Branches and old pallets from Stark were used. Local volunteers helped build this wooden sculpture.

But do you know who she is named after? She is named after one of the volunteers. This volunteer helped build one of the other hidden giants.

Thomas Dambo’s trolls are popular. Many families enjoy going on a troll hunt. You can use a map to find Hilltop Trine and the other giants.

Each sculpture has its own distinct personality. They also have unique characteristics. Other giants include Sleeping Louis and Teddy Friendly.

You can visit all six giants in one day. It is straightforward with a car. You can also join a tour. Public transportation is also an option. But you’ll still need to walk to reach their hiding spots.

To get to Hilltop Trine from Copenhagen Central Station, take the A S-train. Go to Avedøre Street. Then take bus 1A to Avedørelejren. From there it’s only an eight-minute walk.

Hilltop Trine is more than just a sculpture. She is an invitation. She invites you to discover the beauty of nature. She reminds us of the value of recycling. She also reminds us of the power of community. So, take a moment to appreciate Hilltop Trine. Climb into her hands. Enjoy the view. Reflect on the story behind this gentle giant.
