HFFA started its journey in 1989. Since January 1 2020, HFFA has been headquartered here on Káposztásmegyeri Street. But what exactly does the HFFA – Szabad Repülők Szövetsége do?
The Hungarian Free Flying Association or HFFA is a member of the EHPU. It consists of 25 HG and PG clubs. These clubs boast over a thousand HG and PG pilots. HFFA is the foremost PG and HG body in Hungary.
Most clubs within the HFFA are members of the Hungarian Aeronautical and Airsport Association. This connection highlights HFFA’s commitment to organized and regulated flight activities.
Moreover the HFFA holds official permission. This is granted by the Hungarian National Transport Authority for training purposes. They also have an official Certification Body. This body ensures airworthiness certifications for HGs and PGs.
If you want to become a pilot, you must have legal insurance. It should cover third-party liability with a minimum of 10 million HUF. In addition a special air medical certificate is required for HG and PG activity. This ensures the safety and well-being of pilots.
In Hungary, you need to have an identification number on your wing. This helps with identification and tracking. In case of an emergency search and rescue teams can be reached through the Flying Information Center.
Hungary’s airspace remains uncontrolled up to 2900 meters AMSL. However, controlled TMAs, CTRs, TRAs and restricted airspaces exist. Pilots rely on ICAO maps to navigate these designated areas safely.
