Nestled amidst the Essex countryside, Herongate and Ingrave offer a charming escape from the bustling city. Herongate and Ingrave are two villages with no discernible boundary. They lie just south of Brentwood. Herongate and Ingrave offer the best of both worlds. You get a traditional village feel, surrounded by farmland and Thorndon Country Park. Imagine enjoying a pint at the Green Man pub, overlooking the village green and pond. Or perhaps you prefer the Boars Head pub. Herongate and Ingrave even have a cricket green, a village shop open all hours, and an M&S Food. Families will appreciate the Ingrave Johnstone primary school, rated “Good” by OFSTED. It sits next to playing fields with a play area and basketball court. The well-regarded St Martin’s secondary school is also nearby. Nature lovers will find plenty to explore in Thorndon Country Park. There are various tracks and footpaths through the park’s mix of woodland, open fields, and a lake. The Visitor Centre is a great place for kids. For those who enjoy a round of golf, there are courses on either side of the villages. Thorndon Park Golf Club is right in the middle of Herongate and Ingrave. This club is highly regarded. The country park and golf club were once part of the Thorndon Hall estate. This Palladian mansion, built in 1764, was designed by Capability Brown. Today, it houses luxury apartments and mews-style houses. Herongate and Ingrave’s idyllic setting doesn’t mean sacrificing convenience. Brentwood’s High Street and station are only a short drive away. Many residents prefer Shenfield station, just 3.5 miles away, with a 23-minute journey time to London Liverpool Street. Shenfield is also an Eastern Hub for the Elizabeth Line (Crossrail). Alternatively, West Horndon station is only 3.3 miles away. It offers a 29-minute journey to London Fenchurch Street. Herongate and Ingrave are well-connected by road. They are situated between the A127 and A12, with easy access to junctions 28 and 29 of the M25. Herongate and Ingrave offer a unique blend of rural charm and urban convenience.
