Who would have thought a garden could be a work of art? This is the Heart of the City Sculpture, a captivating piece in the renowned Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. This isn’t your typical garden overflowing with flowers. It’s an 11-acre outdoor gallery, home to over 40 permanent sculptures, each with a story to tell. The Heart of the City Sculpture is just one of the many intriguing pieces that grace this space. Opened in 1988, the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is a joint effort by the Walker Art Center and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. It’s gone through transformations even before its grand opening. This land was once a military training ground, then a vibrant floral exhibition space known as the Armory Garden. Today, it stands as a testament to the ever-evolving relationship between art and nature, a place where creativity blossoms in the heart of the city.
