Tired of the city, discover Háziréi Reservoir. Háziréi Reservoir is a man-made lake. It sits in Pest County. The lake is in the northern part of the Solymári Valley. It lies on the border of Pilisvörösvár and Csobánka. It is about 200 meters east of Solymár.

Most of the lake is in Pilisvörösvár. Only the northern shore touches Csobánka. The lake was created by damming the Határ-réti ditch and the Házi-réti stream. Swimming is not allowed. But Háziréi Reservoir is popular for fishing.

The lake is easy to reach from Highway 10. Near the 15-6 kilometer marker, turn north. Take the dirt road. It is usually fine for city cars. After 600-700 meters, you will find a large free parking lot. From there, it is a short walk to the southeast corner of the lake.

You can also get there by public transport. Take Volánbusz from Árpád híd station. Look for buses 800, 801, 805, 810, or 820. Get off at the Solymári elágazás stop which is near an Auchan store. Walk about 500 meters toward Pilisvörösvár. Then, take the dirt road to the lake.

Another option is the 218 BKV bus. Take it to Pilisborosjenő, Téglagyári tér. On weekends, it goes to the outer terminal. From there, walk 2-2.5 kilometers along the Malom dűlő. This path runs parallel to the Határ-réti stream. This will lead you to the reservoir.

The water surface of Háziréi Reservoir varies. It ranges from 24.6 to 26 hectares depending on the water level. Its perimeter is about 7.2 kilometers. The lakebed is diverse. There are sudden deep spots and shallow areas. The shoreline has both hard and muddy sections. Near the streams, the water is less than 1 meter deep. In the middle, it averages about 2 meters. Near the dam, it can reach 3.5 meters.

The Háziréi Fishing Associations Union maintains the lake. Seven fishing associations formed this union. You can find a fish guard house and a buffet on the southern shore. Surveillance cameras are in use. Swimming is prohibited throughout the lake.

Several Budapest and Pest County companies jointly created the reservoir before the change of regime. Many founding companies disappeared in the 1990s. The Rozmaring Producer Cooperative and its successor took over much of the common property. This led to lengthy lawsuits. The court named Rozmaring, the Pilisvörösvár municipality, and a private company as owners. The lawsuits even challenged the fishing rights of the operating association.

Common fish in the lake include carp and catfish. You can also find asp, pike, zander, amur, and silver carp. At least five catfish over 40 kg have been caught. The lake record was 69.20 kg in 2016. At least twenty carp over 20 kg have been caught. The lake record was 23.20 kg in 2016. Carp over 5 kg, amur over 7 kg, and pike over 70 cm are protected. They must be released after capture and photography.

The shores mix local bushes and farmland with aquatic species. The lake has a rich dragonfly population.

Fishing is allowed year-round. Anglers must follow national and local rules. Each angler can use up to 2 rods with 3 hooks each. Fishing is allowed from the shore, piers, and association boats. Remote-controlled bait boats are permitted. Ice fishing is not allowed due to warm springs. Fishing on the dam is prohibited. Spin fishing is banned throughout the lake. About five kilometers of shoreline is available for fishing. This provides about 400 fishing spots. No spots are reserved. You can use any spot on a first-come, first-served basis.

The charm of Háziréi Reservoir lies in its blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
