In September 2021, Havelock Primary School, Nursery & Arp opened its Additionally Resourced Provision. This ARP is for pupils with autistic spectrum disorder and speech language. It also supports communication needs. The Unit has four classes for 36 primary aged pupils from Reception to Year 6.

Havelock Primary School, Nursery & Arp offers a broad and balanced curriculum. Children are encouraged to be inquisitive and creative thinkers. In 2019, the school began to review its curriculum. They started with the core subjects. The aim was to ensure that learning was challenging. Also that the curriculum was diverse. It should be linked with local history where possible. The curriculum is regularly evaluated. This ensures it has the best impact for the children. It reflects the pupils, families, and staff.

There are two key elements that complement the curriculum at Havelock Primary School, Nursery & Arp. The first is the Rainbow curriculum. It supports the well-being of pupils. The second is the learning to learn model. This is called the 5 Rs. Both approaches ensure that pupils are responsible and resilient learners.

Havelock ARP is designed for children with ASD, SLCN, and MLD. These are aged 4 to 11 years old. Pupils learn in small class sizes of up to nine children. A multidisciplinary team supports them. Specialist teachers and teaching assistants are part of the team. Additional support includes a PE teacher. Also an Occupational Therapist and a Speech and Language Therapist are available.

Teaching and learning are based on adjusted elements. These come from the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum. The curriculum is tailored for the students. Havelock Primary School, Nursery & Arp provides a meaningful and individualised school curriculum. This ensures pupils develop skills and independence.

Children must have an Education Health Care Plan to attend the ARP. Applications must be done through Ealing SENAS team. Referrals are sent to Havelock Primary School, Nursery & Arp by the SENAS team. The school considers the referral. They will visit the child in their education setting. This assesses whether they can meet the child’s needs.

If Havelock Primary School, Nursery & Arp feels they can meet the child’s needs, they will invite you to visit. You can look around the school and the ARP. This is followed by an admission process. This is in liaison with the SENAS Team.

Children cannot automatically move from mainstream classes into the ARP. All applications must go through Ealing. They receive applications from across the borough. This is not through the normal admissions route.

Havelock Primary School, Nursery & Arp has a high adult to pupil ratio. This provides a higher level of support than in a mainstream setting. A wide range of external professionals are available. They support all pupils. This includes speech and language therapists. Also Occupational Therapists and Educational Psychologists are available. The wider curriculum includes swimming lessons. It also includes exposure to music therapies.
