Haus Dr. Pickel stands out with its two and three-story plastered, cubic structure. It features a two-story annex, which becomes single-story at the back. They described it as a “building with clear, cubic forms, staggered and maintained in graphic rigor.” Its widely overhanging flat roofs and asymmetrical arrangement of diverse window formats make it a rare example of New Building in Bremen. Since 1994, Haus Dr. Pickel has held a place on Bremen’s monument protection list. Its enduring presence reminds us of a time when modern architecture was just beginning to shape the city’s landscape. It is a concrete representation of the forward-thinking vision of its creator, Dr. Pickel, and architect Becker-Sassenhof.
