It’s a meticulously crafted art installation along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway. The sculpture is nestled on the slopes of the interchange with Lintang Hajjah Rehmah. The Harmony Fly depicts a dynamic group of seagulls in flight, crafted from fiberglass. These birds aren’t merely decorative; they represent a larger art series called “Penang in Harmony,” commissioned by IJM Land Berhad. The Harmony Fly has a dual role. As you arrive on Penang Island, these seagulls symbolically guide you towards George Town, evoking the relaxed coastal vibe. And as you depart, they seemingly fly alongside you towards Bayan Lepas, offering a fond farewell. The sculpture captures the essence of seagulls taking flight at sunrise along the Jelutong Expressway, also known as the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway. This “Harmony Fly” art piece is deeply connected to Penang’s coastal identity. Interestingly, the original installation, completed in 2004, features ten seagulls, nicknamed the “Perfect 10,” symbolizing high aspirations and teamwork.
