A journey that begins at Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery School, then continues to St John’s for the junior years, before flourishing in various secondary schools across South West London. Located on Normansfield Avenue in Teddington, Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery School welcomes children aged 3 to 7. The school prides itself on its small size, where every child feels cherished and encouraged to reach their full potential. Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery School isn’t just about academics. It fosters a rich curriculum with a strong emphasis on the arts. As a forest school, it utilizes its outdoor resources, especially “The Wilderness,” a large conservation area attached to the school. Parent partnerships are highly valued here. The school enjoys long-standing, positive relationships with parents, carers, staff, and governors. These strong connections contribute significantly to each child’s development. Children can enter the Nursery classes the September after their third birthday. While there’s a registration process, a place isn’t guaranteed. For Reception, children are admitted in the academic year they turn five, with 90 places available. Hampton Wick Infant and Nursery School believes in inclusivity. It strives to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, within the mainstream setting whenever possible and desired by families. The school also uses a ‘baseline screening’ for Nursery and Reception children to understand their starting points and identify any potential gaps in provision. This helps teachers tailor their approach and provide individual feedback to parents. For Year 1 students, the Phonics Screening continues, helping to assess and support their literacy development. The school has developed its own assessment system for Years 1 and 2, tracking children’s progress against the National Curriculum.
