“Have you heard about Teddy Venlig?” The troll lives right here in Hakkemosen. Hakkemosen is a huge natural area. It is centrally located. Locals love to gather here.
Hakkemosen sits between Lervangen and the Danish Technological Institute. This 425,000 square meter area is owned by Høje-Taastrup Municipality. It is about 50 hectares in size.
The area formed around an old clay pit. Hakkemose Teglværk once operated here. The landscape still shows signs of those clay excavations.
But Hakkemosen offers more than just a glimpse into the past. Outdoor life flourishes here all year. You can enjoy nature. Spot varied plant and animal life.
For a unique experience, spend the night in Hakkemosen’s shelter. Light a bonfire. Eat under the open sky. Or simply relax in one of the hammocks.
Institutions and schools can borrow equipment from Økobasen. It inspires activity. It invites exploration of nature.
Keep an eye out for Teddy Venlig. The giant troll is made of recycled materials. Artist Thomas Dambo created Teddy Venlig. Dambo is famous for his large sculptures worldwide. Teddy is one of six trolls in the Vestegnen area. You can find others in nearby towns. They are in Ishøj, Albertslund, Vallensbæk, Rødovre, and Hvidovre. Dambo’s trolls also live in Australia, the USA, and Puerto Rico.
Each year, the municipality celebrates Nature Day in Hakkemosen. It takes place the first Sunday in September. The Park Department and local associations host the event. It runs from 10 AM to 2 PM. Participation is free.
Hakkemosen’s lakes and meadows have protection under nature conservation laws. This protection means the areas cannot change. The surrounding areas do not have the same protection.
Hakkemosen provides parking. There are tables and benches available. Animals are welcome. You will also find toilets here.
