Did you know that rising from the ashes of a collapsed roof, Hafnia-Hallen stands as a testament to resilience? Hafnia-Hallen, once known as Club Danmark Hallen, has a rich history. Originally built in 1996, this massive sports center in Valby Idrætspark, Copenhagen, was designed for football and athletics. Its impressive roof, made of huge glulam arches spanning 80 meters, tragically collapsed under heavy snow in 2010. For years, the hall sat unusable, its future uncertain. Then, in 2014, Copenhagen Municipality took over. Working with local sports clubs, they developed a plan to rebuild. Remarkably, they reused the original roof structure. The reborn Hafnia-Hallen opened in 2017, boasting almost 10,000 square meters of activity space. Today, Hafnia-Hallen is one of Northern Europe’s largest sports halls, housing seven different activity areas under one roof. Its visual identity reflects this dynamic space. The logo and signage use vibrant colors and clean lines, inspired by the markings of various sports courts and fields. Inside, you’ll find a full-size artificial turf football field, a 400-meter running track, and facilities for technical athletic disciplines like pole vaulting and long jump. Hafnia-Hallen also hosts major indoor concerts. It’s a vibrant hub of activity. From the collapse to its reopening, Hafnia-Hallen’s story is one of renewal and community spirit.
