Nestled in the heart of Konya, the Hacɪ Veyis Camii has witnessed centuries of stories unfold. Hacɪ Veyis Camii isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of faith and community. This mosque, with its roots in the 14th or 15th century, stands as a quiet observer of the city’s ever-changing landscape. The Hacɪ Veyis Camii, once known as Dolap Cami, has deep connections to the community. The mosque served as a vital hub for prayer and gatherings. Its location near the bustling Üçler Mezarlığı meant that funeral prayers often echoed within its walls. Hacɪ Veyis Camii’s name honors a respected imam, Hacɪ Veyis, who served the community for many years. His son, Hacɪ Veyiszade Mustafa Kurucu, continued his legacy, further cementing the mosque’s importance in local history. The simple rectangular structure, crafted from adobe, embodies the classic mosque design. The interior space, approximately 300 square meters, features ten windows adorned with iron bars. Six windows grace the front, three on each side, and two at the back. The mosque underwent significant renovations in 1949-1950, led by Hacɪ Veyiszade Mustafa Kurucu. The original thatched roof was replaced with a tiled one. The mihrab and minbar were also renewed, and a minaret was added. The Hacɪ Veyis Camii remains a place of peaceful reflection in the heart of Konya. Its history is interwoven with the lives of those who have prayed within its walls, a testament to the power of faith and community across generations.
